KLIMA KARDS
TEACHERS ARE UNDERSTAFFED. SCHOOLS ARE UNDER-RESOURCED. STUDENTS ARE OVERLOADED WITH INFORMATION.
WE TEACH COMPREHENSIVE CLIMATE EDUCATION THAT FIGHTS AGAINST THE CONSTRAINTS OF THE EDUCATION CRISIS.
KLIMA KARDS METHODOLOGY
SET 1: CLIMATE SCIENCE
Based on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports, the United Nations body on climate science, these cards teach the basics of climate science in comprehensible Filipino, featuring simplified indigenized versions of specific climate science terms we innovated.
SET 2: FILIPINO YOUTH LIVED EXPERIENCE
Based on over 100 consultative meetings with Filipino youth all over the country, we highlight the human consequences of the climate crisis for Filipino youth to facilitate knowledge exchange between different youth communities all over the country.
SET 3: CHANGEMAKER TOOLS
We used changemaker tools from Global Changemakers Schools to help the youth analyze their positionality, leverage their networks, and use iceberg modeling and prototyping to create solutions to climate crisis-induced problems in their communities. This empowerment hopes to turn climate anxiety into solutions.
SET 4: CLIMATE EMOTIONS PROCESSING
We turned the Climate Emotions framework from the Child Rights Academic Network and contextualized it to the Filipino youth and mental health processing in the Philippines to help address climate anxiety into solutions.

DELIVERY MODEL
Klima has innovated “Klima Kards” that can deliver the aforementioned curriculum in under two hours.
Faced with much hesitancy to include climate education due to constraints on timing, resources, and staffing in Filipino public schools, Klima developed a method to deliver the comprehensive curriculum with as few time and resource commitments as necessary.
Through a gamified approach, the cards address the four main problems in climate education in the Philippines.
By the end of the year, we intend to introduce Klima Kards to all 17 regions in the Philippines and at least 200 schools across the country through a Klima Karavan; we will personally travel to the most climate risk vulnerable areas in the country to conduct our Klima Kards workshops.
